Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) is a small tree, up to five meters, with ivory white flowers of pleasant scent which form inflorescence. It flowers between May and July, so now is the right time to harvest it.
The Latin name of this plant means Achilles’ herb of thousand leaves and comes from the legend that Achilles used this herb to treat his wounds. In ancient books on medicinal herbs it is described as “a cure for all diseases”.
Rosehip is a perennial deciduous shrub that can grow between 1 and 5 meters. Young branches are covered in thorns, similar to other roses. The flowers are white or pink, which bear small oval fruit, for which this plant is best known.
