About the Education Center

The Education Centre for Nature Conservation is located in the village of Negrevo, 2 km from the Delcevo-Pehcevo-Berovo regional road, in the old school building. The renovation of the school building and the establishment of the education centre began in 2017 as part of the activities of the Nature Conservation Programme in the Republic of North Macedonia, a project by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), coordinated by Farmahem. The Education Centre was officially open for visitors in September 2018.

The aim of the Education Centre is to contribute to nature conservation in the Bregalnica region through education and raising public awareness, as well as promotion of sustainable use of natural resources. With the reconstruction of the old school building in the village of Negrevo, the exterior and the interior were adapted for the needs of a modern and interactive education process, which applies an unusual and original way to teach visitors about the importance of nature and to promote the Bregalnica region biodiversity.

The Education Centre has a well-designed yard with elements for interactive activities for children, youth and adults. The visitors can also visit “The trail of Petko and the forest inhabitants – Pehcevo adventure”, which links the Education Centre with the Judovi Livadi site, where a carnivorous, fly-eating plant round-leaved sundew grows (Drosera Rotundifolia), which is an endemic species in the region.

The Education Centre is owned by the Municipality of Pehcevo and is managed by biology professor Verica Arnautovska.
